Overcoming Offense

November 15, 2025 · Blog

Psalm 119:165 (NKJV) says, “Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.”

In another version (KJB) , it says, “nothing shall offend them.”

If you want to be a person of peace and great impact, you’re going to have to learn not to be offended. And I’m not just talking about the big things—I’m talking about the small things, too.

Whether it’s something major or something tiny, we have to train ourselves not to be easily offended if we want to walk in everything God has for us and live a peaceful life.

Offense, jealousy, fear, envy—they all rob us of enjoying what God has already given us and distract us from running our own race.

How can you become a person free from offense? You must be dedicated to the Word of God—reading it, meditating on it, and applying it. When you do, offense loses its grip on your heart. Remember, “Great peace have they that love thy law; and nothing shall offend them.” A relationship with God’s Word gives you the foundation to rise above offense.

Romans 12:18–19 says: “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”

Another scripture reminds us to be at peace with everyone. That means minding your own business. Living at peace with others means to stop being nosy, causing drama, or instigating conflict. It means focusing on your life, your calling, and your race.

One reason people get offended so easily is that they insert themselves into situations that don’t concern them. Stick to what God has called you to do. Be at peace with everyone, and focus on running your own race.

Start today by diving into God’s Word and determining that you will walk free from offense.

You can pray: “I forgive everyone who has offended me, and I choose not to allow offenses to creep into my mind or heart. In Jesus’ name.”
